Tower T513011 VL70 Cordless Vacuum Test & Review

This arrived in a colourful branded box with a carry handle, and images of the vacuum on the front and side. The box gives a good breakdown of all the functions and features. Once opened everything is packed into bespoke compressed card and protected with plastic sleeves.

After unpacking everything I put the battery on charge and had a good read through the manual, I found the manual to be nice and clear with pictures and usage instructions, all very easy to follow. Once the battery had charged I fitted it and gave a good test out with various different items on carpet and hard floor. I found the suction very good and it did not struggle picking anything up.

This has a flexi pole for going under beds and tables etc which I found worked really well, and the attachments are quick and easy to change. Emptying is very easy with a quick release catch on the bottom of the dust collection, and the main case also removes with a quick release catch for cleaning. The filter is on the top removes and can be cleaned in water then replaced when dry.

The main motorised floor head has a soft roller which picks up very well on low pile carpet and hard floor, but I have found after using it for a few days it does not brush deep into a deep pile carpet in the way a bristle brush does, so in my opinion the performance is much better on harder surfaces.

I like that the wall mount not only holds the attachments but can be used to charge the unit when just placing the vacuum in it, this is something lacking in a lot of models but it does need the wall mount fitted in close proximity to a plug socket.

This does state up to 40 minutes of continuous run time from a single charge, which is based on the low power level. I found I got around 18 minutes on full power which is around or slightly above average for a cordless unit.

Overall this is a nice looking and a well designed vacuum with some nice features such as the flexi pole, a well thought out quick release, and the wall mount charging. I don’t think it performs quite as well on deep pile carpets but apart from that it works great.

Thank you. After much indecision I ordered the newer model with electronic read out and storage stand. I was going for the Shark but saved £100 with the Tower. It’s meant for a quick clean and I’m sure it will do the job very well. One thing I noticed is that they have a hepa filter which many budget cleaners do not have.
