TOM Mr. Cleaner Battery Powered Gravel Vacuum – Video Review

Hi Guys,

[Note: If you like this video or if you think it helped you, please click on the ads appearing on top-right corner of this page. Thanks… and watch/read on…]

I created this video review of a automatic gravel vacuum, which also addresses its low suction problem. Amazon has pretty useless rules for video reviews, like only 10 mins, only 100mb etc. My video could not fit in those requirements, so I have uploaded it at youtube here.

I gave 4 stars out of 5 and took off one star from the review on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003OYOPNW) because I had to do a little quick trick to make it work better and its on/off button cap is faulty. Other than that, with the trick I have shown in the video, this would do really perfect job of cleaning your aquarium.

For all those buyers, who are confused about the mixed reviews on amazon, I would request them to watch this video, you can actually see the vacuum in action and see how much suction it has got. You can then easily decide whether to buy or not.

Nice purchase for my aquarium, I am happy with it.

Yikes! A razor knife on a counter top…but on to the topic of the suction unit, if you don't have adequate circulation in the tank and poor filtering, you will be forced to use a device similar to this. A recommendation is to keep the unit's filter stock. Good mod on the pickup head, perhaps just a bit of packing tape would work.

great video but u don't have enough gravel's in your aquarium thanx very helpful video

Pierre Pinheiro says:

uhmmm…you're supposed to bury the suction cup into the gravel causing a 'soft' lift, this raises the gravel and debris. The debris then gets caught in the filtering mechanism and the gravel continues to pool within the suction cup till you raise it above the gravel bed.
You can do the same thing with a manual gravel cleaner, controlling the suction at points by bending the hose using your hand as a clamp. :)

you dont have enough gravel in that fish tank for the device to work correctly, reason why u dont get a god suction, i think that device is way to big for the small tank honestly

One of the finest reviews of a product… regardless of product's pros or cons… Just ordered mine online… I am a first time owner of Pet Fish 10 gallon tank, so this coming weekend is my first water/gravel cleaning day and was literally dreading it… And, Eheims are soooooooooooo pricey…

finalruner says:

Very informative video. Thanks. You should do a review of the eheim quick vacation pro

Thanks for showing this product Charansing. I noticed a lot of people have issues with the suction cup attachment, when I read the product reviews on amazon.com. The creator should redesign it like you did here with the tape. But you should redesign your idea here with the additional hose and patton the product and sell it. I would buy. lol

I wanted to ask if the bag is durable and how long it might last? Thanks 🙂

explosiv0 says:

Just use the correct batteries you nut case..

amanda fjordell says:

Get those goldfish a bigger tank, please :(

SunBelly says:

Is there some reason you didn't use actual C batteries? Perhaps it would vacuum properly without modification if you used the correct batteries in the first place.
