My personal opinion:
I think you get more bang for your buck with the Shark Ion vac. I think the controls are better designed (easy one-handed use). It was slightly easier to move across the carpet and performed equally as well as the Dyson product.

Disclaimers:
The Shark products I tested are my own vacuums and the corded vac is 4 years old and the Shark Rocket Ion is 6 months old as of making the review. The Dyson products I borrowed from my parents and they’re used more frequently because I’m a slob compared to my parents. Just know that there are more hours on the dyson vacs reviewed. Also the DC59 is an early model and is comparable to newer V6 models.
