SmartReview.com tested the new Dyson DC59 Motorhead Cordless Vacuum. The main difference between this model and the Dyson DC59 Animal is the motorized floor tool, which has a larger beater bar and 75% more power. Both cordless vacs do a great job on hard floors and carpets. The DC59’s new floor tool, we found does extract more dust and dirt from carpets. This new floor tool would be a better choice for deep and higher pile carpets. If you have low pile carpets, or mostly hard floors, either model will do the job. Both models come with the same accessories, and have the same suction power. The DC59 Motorhead has a slightly lower cleaning time of 24 minutes vs. The DC59 Animal 26 minutes.

Dyson’s Best 2014 cordless vacuum , the DC59 Motorhead is actually two vacuums in one. It can be an upright vacuum, and a handheld vacuum. Accessories easily attach and detach. This model is also compatible with most Dyson accessories, so you can use an accessory from another Dyson corded vacuum you may own, such as the DC41 or DC65.

The Dyson DC59 Motorhead has 50% more power than the DC44 in MAX mode. It also has a bin that is 30% larger than the DC44. Cleaning runtime is 20% longer than the DC44 cordless (now at 24 minutes). And the motorized floor tool has 75% more power than the DC44.

If you are looking for a great cordless that has the power of an upright, but weighs less than 5 lbs., then the DC59 Animal or DC59 Motorhead should be on your shortlist. It has received the “Best of 2014 Award” from SmartReview.com

SmartReview.com attended Dyson’s unveiling of their latest vacuum cleaners in NYC. In addition to uprights and canisters, Dyson unveiled its new line of cordless vacuums.

In the cordless area, all cordless models will use Dyson’s advanced V6 motor. So, all the cordless will be V6 models. There will be a plain V6 model, V6 Animal, V6 Motorhead, and V6 Absolute.

The V6 Absolute is Dyson’s top cordless vac. It comes with two floor tools. The motorhead floor tool, great for carpet, and hard floors and the Fluffy soft roller tool, which is just for hard floors and is great at getting both larger particles and tiny particles at the same time. A demonstration with Cheerios and flour was done to demonstrate its capabilities. This will be great for picking up cereal, dog food, rice and other larger debris, yet still keep a tight suction on the floor to pick up tiny particles of dust, dirt, flour.
