This is a quick review and highlights of the Hoover Air Cordless vac. Hoover advertises this as a replacement for your corded vac, with it having the same power as a corded vac. Well, this is not even remotely close to reality. The suction and volume of airflow is a fraction of your corded vacuum. The hose diameter inside the bottom fitting is about the size of a garden hose – too small to be useful. The hose design is just baffling. As you will see in the video, to connect the accessories, you have to disconnect the hose at the base of the vac, and connect it to your handle or accessories. The hose length is too short to begin with, and further reduced by the grey plastic guide bracket halfway down the hose. This vac is ok for quick cleanups and maybe routine cleaning, but you will need to get your corded vac out for that deep cleaning. The battery system on this vac just does not have near enough power to run a bigger suction motor or brushroller motor, and that limits how effective this vacuum is. This vacuum would be a good alternative if you are in an area with no power outlets, on hard surfaces (works fine for that), and on medium to short pile carpets. The brushroll motor is not powerful enough for deep pile carpets. The lack of adjustability prevents the brushroll from doing any serious grooming of the carpet. Overall, I rate this vacuum poorly, given the clear design flaws, and lack of power. To fix it, they need to double or triple the power of the battery system, increase the size of both motors, eliminate the restrictions in the hose assembly, and come up with a much better (or separate) hose assembly for the accessories.

Update 5/22/14: I attempted to use this vacuum to clean out my crosscut paper shredder bin. There were a bunch of paper scraps that are 1/8th inch by an inch laying in the bottom. That was a dismal failure. This vacuum has such poor suction that the paper pieces got stuck everywhere in the hose, and worse yet, at the inlet to the dust bin. There is very little clearance between the plastic cone in the middle of the dust bin, and the air inlet from the hose. I had to take the whole thing apart and still could not reach the pieces in the plastic connector between the hose and dust bin. Finally I just got my REAL vacuum out and reverse sucked everything back through the hose. Funny that vacuum didn’t have an issue with it. The more I use this vacuum, the more I realize it is just a toy. Ok on bare floors and very short pile carpet, and nothing more. It will not pull the pile up on standard carpet. My Neato XV-21 has consistently done a much better job at that.
