We have a good friend that works with vacuums quite a bit and his first comment to me about this vac is that it is the most powerful vac that is battery operated to date. I believe this to be very true and quite possibly why this unit is a battery hog. Think about it, to get the power, you need to use power. There is a balance between power and runtime. In this case, the runtime is between 12 and 19 minutes depending on the material or liquid you are vacuuming. The short runtime is a benefit to me as I do not want to sit and vacuum more than 15 minutes anyway!
