If you need to replace your Dyson V6 cord-free vacuum’s battery pack at any point, this is quick and easy to do.
Always ensure you disconnect your machine from the charger cord before carrying out any maintenance.
The battery pack can be removed from the machine by undoing the 2 phillips screws which hold it in place – one on the rear of the handle, and one on the underside of the machine. The new battery pack can then be fitted in the same way.
Step 1. Press the red release catch to open the bin, press the catch a second time to release it from the cyclone.
Step 2. Remove the screw from the rear of the handle.
Step 3. Place the machine on a soft surface and remove the screw from the underside of the battery.
Step 4. Locate the new battery into the handle, ensuring it clicks into place.
Step 5. Secure in place with the supplied screws.
Step 6. To refit the bin, locate the tab on the front of the cyclone with the recess in the bin inlet. Close the bin base ensuring it clicks shut.

Excellent video, great shots of what to do and straight forward. Thank you
I use power tools with interchangeable, easily replaceable, rechargeable and durable batteries. They last for years and work much harder and longer than your vacuum. Why cannot Dyson vacuums work the same way? And why must I submit to cookies to do business on Dyson's customer service site? I do not appreciate junk ads to do business.
Second screw is very difficult to get to, won't come out on mine. Between the lousy airflow, the difficulties with cleaning the chamber, and replacing the battery, I can't say enough what a waste of money Dyson is. No attention to design, function, or practicality whatsoever. Disguised as a "premium" company, Dyson is merely a garbage brand with nice colors.
Such a simple job, made easy by the design of course, and a reassuringly simple video to watch. Well done Dyson – proof that investing in a quality product pays off long term. A new lease of life for my V6.
nice to see it was so easy. Just wish the original pack lasted a year.
Great except I can’t get the screw to budge.
Why does the new battery come with a new set of screws??? are the old ones worn out? lmfao!!!
What is a plan on the day that I was thinking about you too baby baby boo Xxxxxxxxxxxx 🏳️🌈
Unbelievable…an instructional video without lameass, annoying background music made by some "musician" from one of those music scams like TAXI churning out soulless crap on their mom's laptop in the laundry room. God bless you, Dyson!
Have you seen how much the original Dyson batteries are? They have all the electronics inside on circuit board.
Was not worth me replacing with original battery as its half the cost of buying a new one.
Great vacuums but …. I replaced with an LG comes with 2 pop out batteries. 👍
Thank you for designing this to be so easily user replaceable. This should be a case study for all industrial designers to eliminate waste from obsilesence.
Dear Dyson, I've replaced the battery on my device on my own, thank you. But, I wonder, what should we do old V6 batteries? Certainly, we shouldn't dispose them randomly. What is the best way?
I didn't have a second screw on mine, but I also want to know how to remove the ion battery pack from its enclosure. Would someone explain why that's called out on the underside of the enclosure as a "hazard"?
the pillow though
Nice video. But the back screw is so tight on mine that I cannot budge it. I've tried wd40 and tapping on screwdriver. Currently the entire vacuum and new battery is rendered useless because of one tiny screw
not satisfied with the machine. at all. 4 years old and already 2nd replacement battery is required. Spoke to Dyson support and they wanted me to buy a new one…
in this video everything comes off so smoothly and easily not so in reality…🤪
