Wondering how to empty a Dyson V10 ( https://amzn.to/2Sl0FeZ ) cordless vacuum? It’s not entirely obvious, is it? Here is how you empty the new Dyson!
The new, 2018 Dyson V10 has move to a direct “in-line” bin which empties vertically instead of horizontally. This makes aiming the drop very easy plus you can actually lower the vacuum in the trash bin before opening, but the new system takes some practice.
To open the V10 and empty the bin you need to: remove any cleaning tools or extension pieces, then put the vacuum over the bin. Firmly press the red tab on the underside of the clear waste receptacle. It push open DOWNWARD after a second, keep pushing until you hear a distinct “click” and the front of the bin opens. This will let everything inside fall out.
To close the bin just push the door shut and then put then clear plastic component back into place!

Wow thank you. Total lifesaver saving me so much frustration. I was pushing that red button and the thing would slide down, but then I'd say, now what? I wasn't going far enough to let the flap open. Phew!
Mine was stuck. I had my son pull down on the canister as I push down the lever and that did the trick. After that, it worked just fine.

Omg. I'm a smart person and also pretty mechanical and although I absolutely love this vac, I couldnt figure it our! The red part is poorly designed. It looks like a HINGED piece rather than a simple slider. Thank you!

I have axonal CMT and strength of a five year old child because of that. This button is near impossible for me to push. It takes me 10-15 minutes every time. People who designed Dyson vacuums are full of shit ableists.
