Yes dyson is right a bagless machine is a lot easier and less maintanance with my miele once every 6 months pull the self sealing bag out and pop a new one in and once a year a new filter yup that is a lot less hygenic than using a brush to clean a cyclone getting covered in dust and crawly naty things and germs ill stick to the old fashioned miele way that is for ever better.

there is a nasty smell coming out the fan when i turn it on I cleaned the filter but if I dissemble it and clean it like you did will it go away

You will damage the plastic cover by using a screwdriver to remove it, I can see where it's chewed the plastic, guarantee now void
