Dyson V8 Total Clean cordless vacuum: 3 month ownership review.

This is my review of my Dyson V8 Total Clean cordless vacuum cleaner, which I bought from Currys, after 3 months of ownership, detailing pros and cons I’ve found, and showing a demo of the machine in use, on both carpet, stairs and lino flooring, with the Fluffy head, the Carpet powerhead, and the mini electric powerhead.

Thank you so much for these videos, which are very helpful at showing the pros and cons of these vacs. I am very keen to get a Dyson V8 or Dyson V10, but am concerned about the longevity of the machine, especially given the extremely steep price tag. I was close to ordering one last night, but then read some of the negative user reviews on Amazon for both the V8 and the V10. I very much appreciate that you did a 3 month review of the V8, and am also wondering if you've had experience with owning a Dyson stick vac for more than a year or two. Also very concerning is that the negative Amazon reviews universally mentioned the horrendous customer service from Dyson when trying to resolve their problems. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Firstly thank you SO MUCH for the videos you've done on the V8 and you are spot on with all of your observations and comments, especially about the fluffy head which is amazing!  Please can you show where you put the dab of oil on the wheels on the carpet head? as I would like to do the same on my new V8 Total Clean to help keep them running well and looking good!  I agree that it would be nice to get the dusting brush included but what I did was order the quick release handheld tool kit as well which includes a dusting brush, extension hose, mattress tool & stiff dirt brush (all of which I'll use) that way I have every tool I could ever need.  The V8 is fantastic and makes vacuuming fun – I am SOOOO happy 🙂

Good review. Seeing your video has reminded me that I need to use the V10 to clean my hard floors this evening. I never noticed any static shock on the V8 when I had one

Once dyson can get the run time upto an hour with the powered heads on-I will consider getting rid of my corded vac-I think that will be the next or a couple of generations after the V10-as dyson claim they are working on solid state battery technology for future models-I believe they will get there in the next couple of years-I certainly won’t be buying a V10 as I don’t think it’s a big enough step up from the V8

depechem0demusic says:

I’ve got to admit I found virtually no difference in the pick up performance between max and low power-in fact I found it hard to push and pull on max using the carpet head

depechem0demusic says:

My bin went cloudy the first week after I used it to clean the car carpets-probably because car carpets and mats hold much more gritty dust and small stones etc

I got the mini motorised tool with my V8 but I’ve also got the tangle free version as well that came with my small ball upright and I can recommend the tangle free for your cats hair
