My V8 does this as well, and its worse in dry atmosphere, like in your house in winter, when the air is very dry. The more dust you vacuum up, the worse it can be for shocking your hand through the charger plug in hole. On more humid days, it doesnt tend to do it as much, if at all. It could well be the action of the dust spinning round in the bin that creates the static, as I dont get shocks if the bin is empty. Dyson say to wipe down the inside of the bin with an anti static wipe, and its probably best not to vacuum very dirty, synthetic carpets, when the air is very dry. You could try wearing rubber soled shoes to prevent your body earthing out the static charge from the machine?
That's a very common problem on Dyson cordless machines. It's disgusting that Dyson hasn't come up with a resolution!! I had the same thing btw, it's so painful!
