So The Dyson V11 currently comes in two different options in the US, the v11 Torque Drive, which can some in blue or gold and the V11 Animal which is purple.
Besides the color and price The difference between the Torque Drive and the Animal version is that while the torque drive has the LCD screen which we will talk about later, the Animal only has an LED screen, basically the LED panel is just lights and a button, though it has all the same functions as the LCD except it doesn’t show the remaining battery life numbers like the LCD does, which again we will talk about later.
The other difference is that the Animal has one less tool, that is it doesn’t come with the mini soft dusting brush, which is no big loss. Other than that everything I will talk about in this review will apply to both the Torque and the Animal versions.
Notably absent in the US market is the Absolute version, which seems to only be available in the UK for now. I did call Dyson on this point, and it sounded like there weren’t any plans to offer the Absolute version in US any time soon. The only difference between the Absolute and the Torque Drive version is that the Absolute comes with a soft roller or “fluffy” cleaner head as well as the torque drive head.
They have the same color options and everything else is the same so technically you could just buy a soft roller separately, and essiciatlly have an Absolute version, but I will talk about why I don’t think that is necessary later on.
I should also mention that you can use the soft roller and other tools from the V10 version on the V11 since not only are they the same connector size but they are the same wattage, though the soft roller from the V8 and earlier version are not recommended to use since they are different wattages.
So lets look at the features and attachments.
The V11 Torque and Absolute have this cool new LCD screen where you can select between low medium and high power as well as auto. It also shows the estimated battery life you have left, and its pretty smart, that number changes whenever you change the power mode or change the attachment, since the battery life if vastly different between say using a suction attachment and a motorized tool.
The screen also displays things like charge percentage and it has alerts like when its time to change the filter.
Another new feature is the high torque cleaner head, which has a dynamic load sensor which can tell if you are vacuuming hard floors or carpets, and if you have it in auto mode it boosts the suction when it senses carpet for a better deep clean.
I tested this with a few types of carpet depths and found it work really well, also to my earlier point notice how the battery life numbers change when the suction increases.
As far as attachments, it will probably depend on where you buy it from but with mine I obviously got the torque drive head, the mini motorized brush which is a great tools made for stairs and upholstery, or car cleaning, the combo tool which I still think is one of the best dusting brushes on the market, some of the more standard tools and the docking staion. A few new tools to me was the so called “stubborn dirt brush” which has stiffer bristles, and the tools clip where you can clip it to the wand and carry two tools on board.
Ok so with all that out of the way lets talk about the tests.
We started with a basic suction test, after all Dyson claims the V11 has twice the suction of any other cordless vacuum, and indeed we found its suction to be off the charts at 111 inches of water lift, which is a huge number even for a corded vacuum let alone a cordless vacuum which tend to be less powerful. Before this the Dyson V10 had the most suction of any cordless vacuum that I know of but it looks like Dyson has moved the goalpost again with the V11.
We also measured its airflow in several places and on all the power settings and found that on average it has about 32% more airflow than the V10 which we tested at the same time and in the same test conditions. In case your wondering that makes the V11 the most powerful cordless vacuum I have ever seen by a pretty significant margin.

VERY impressive! But why on earth they still have it in the stick vacuum format. There is tons of people who just can't handle the weight like my mom. Even I don't feel comfortable using vacuum with all the weight in the hand. Dyson has the technology, but they need to offer different style vacuum. I mean normal lightweight upright. It would be awesome.
Question on where it enters the bin, is the size bigger than the v10 where the fruit loops got stuck? Great video btw 👌
Here in Canada we also got the V11 Absolute. Although we have just the Absolute and Torque Drive, no Animal
So I actually work for Dyson, and I always recommend this page for all customers because of the straight forward reviews and easy to follow graphics
You should take your top 10 favorite vacuums and see which is the best
Can’t belive the upgrades. Hope dyson keeps up the good work.
