Dyson Hard DC56 Cordless Vacuum For Hard Floors Review

The Dyson Hard™ cordless vacuum cleaner is engineered for hard floor cleaning. Using dual suction channels and a wet wipe, it removes both dust and grime in a single action. It has patented Root Cyclone™ technology and is powered by the Dyson digital motor V2. It’s the only vacuum cleaner to combine powerful constant suction and a wet wipe.

DC56 has a double-edge cleaner head that combines suction and wiping to remove dust and grime at the same time. Dual suction channels provide suction before and after the wipe. The double-edge cleaner head has a swivel neck that allows it to be manuevered into awkward places with a turn of the wrist.

Dyson’s patented Root Cyclone™ technology doesn’t rely on a bag to trap all the dust and dirt. Instead, it spins the air so fast that centrifugal forces up to 70,000 times the force of gravity fling dust and dirt out of the air and straight into the clear bin. Because there’s no bag to clog, there’s no loss of suction.

Conventional motors work by passing current through their carbon brushes, making them spin. This results in sparks, excess heat and wasted energy. Inside the Dyson digital motor, intelligent electronics constantly adjust a powerful magnetic field – spinning a neodymium magnet 104,000 times a minute. This creates a power-efficient cordless vacuum.

DC56’s lithium-ion battery provides 15 minutes of powerful, constant suction, or 6 minutes on boost mode for more difficult tasks.

The long-reach wand is detachable, so DC56 can also be used as a handheld with the Combination and Crevice tools. The additional tools fit directly to the machine.

Dyson wet wipes are designed to remove dirt and grime from sealed hard floors. Wipes will be available for purchase on Dyson.com in September 2013.

People should know that this is for light use, mainly for dirt/crumb spills or in between weekly full vacuums (with a real vacuum). I have the non-hard model and I think it's perfect for using many times for a few minutes a go.

I'm not sure which vacuum the reviewers below are talking about because this vacuum is a complete piece of crap.  I was very excited to try it out, I have a house that is all hard wood and tile. I have several issues with this cleaner: the switch to turn the vacuum on needs to be depressed the entire time which is annoying and uncomfortable, it is top heavy and awkward to hold, the opening where dirt and hair are supposed to be sucked into are too small and only suck up the smallest particles so it's pretty much useless in a house with 3 kids and 2 hairy dogs, since it doesn't suck up the hair or bigger debris the wipe that is attached just gets gummed up with hair.  Maybe for very small cleanups it would be okay.. It's going back to the store tomorrow.  Save yourself the $350.00 and buy a broom and mop they are far superior to this machine.  Oh forgot to mention the battery only lasts less then 10 mins..

very nice little handy tool.Good to have if you live in a condo or small town house w/o carpet. you will need a heavier version if you own a house or your floor is all carpet. like a dc 41 or 24.
