Saved trashing the whole vaccum, yay! Not sure what happened but our DC65 started “letting go” when you picked it up by the handle. Then the canister would pop loose when I was doing stairs (from lifting the body of the vaccum and it flexing slightly). Finally, I saw the red latch sitting on the kitchen table. I don’t know the stories behind the decline – if it was faultless or if the DC65 took a few tumbles – I wouldn’t expect honest confessions out of my spouse or kids anyway. Suffice to say this replacement part…
