I think you nailed the functionality on the head. Also people vacuum differently from another. I tend to rely on small handhelds for daily use and weekly big cleans with a stronger vacuum. My only comment is you jump between quoting the prices as $300 then $400 then back to $300 and base you personal opinion based on price alone. One key factor is the Dyson is better built using nylon glass fibre construction so it can take a beating. I personally dropped my similar DC34 from a 5 foot height so many times, if it had been a Black and Decker or my mom's expensive Electrolux stick vac, they would have broken as they use brittle plastics that get more brittle with UV exposure. My DC34 keeps on, keeping on. Is it the most perfect vac? Certainly no, but it has great suction for a handheld, flexible regular and power head options. What would I change…? I would like a larger receptacle to empty less frequently and an interior design that jammed up less. Maybe their famous carbon fibre material could be used inside to create an interior that did not statically hold dust as much and lastly washing the filter is a pain and it takes 24 hours to dry it stopping use of the vac in the process. What has the Dyson done right? Made cleaning so much more convenient for quick jobs. This tool has changed the way I clean, how frequently I clean and how well I clean. I no longer get frustrated with bags, expensive Hepa filters, twisted flexy hoses and constantly tangled electrical cords on vacs that have less suction and pick up less than this unit does. On that count it's a winner.

For $3-500 cordless vacs, Dyson should make one w/ removable battery or improve it so only single charge is required for home/apt/condo that has 2-5 bedrooms, living room, kitchen etc… 20 minute life is shitty… for that price..?

I got this at $160 as a refurb. It is hands-down one of the best purchases I've made on a vacuum cleaner.  Ive found the trigger is not AT ALL difficult to use.  I don't hang the charger/wall unit on the wall; it's on the floor, and all is fine.  Hit up the refurb section on the Dyson site.  Best deal around.

If this handsome reviewer thinks $300 is bad, I wonder what he thinks of the new $500+ DC59 Motorhead Plus DS, haha! 🙂 Nice review!  Impartial.  Always a pleasure to hear from someone who hasn't been "sipping the Kool-Aid".

TheGeist28 says:

The makers of Dyson are fucking crazy with the got damn price tags, it is like they think they're gods of vacs or some shit… fucking ridiculous.  My Bissell FeatherWeight Vacuum is an awesome tool because it works and is simple and only cost me $30 retail, go simple people…. smh.

Martino's says:

Great review. At £300 I wouldn't buy it, I wanted this as I have just got a puppy and thought it would be easy for car and the quick vac of the rug. Because price is the only issue I have just picked up a refurbished model from eBay (dyson outlet) for £165 which is a good saving and comes with a 1 year guarantee.

cheryl wardle says:

I,m SOoooo glad I watched this as I was off to buy 1 today as I was thinking in my mind that it would save me getting out my normal/heavy hoover – as is said it's 'NOT' a re-placment for a normal hoover – so thanks to this review I have just saved myself around £300 plus.   😀   Thank you.

R Dejesus says:

Thanks for the review… I was on the fence about getting this vacuum because of the cost, $300 is expensive I really wanted it for my car being its a
dyson I thought this would be perfect but now Im not sure with that button problem… Thanks so much for the review!!!
