In this video, we’ll discover how to double the runtime of a Dyson Cordless Vacuum Cleaner like the V6, V7, or V8 models. Check out the Double Capacity Battery here: https://amzn.to/3jZZdhh or https://amzn.to/3vwYqfr
My Dyson V6 battery was dying and I could only do a little bit of vacuuming before needed to charge again. Since I needed to replace the battery, I was excited when I discovered this double-capacity battery. I believe that this should be an option that Dyson provides.

Since the double capacity battery is physically thicker, you will need a new wall mount that is compatible with the double runtime battery. This wall mount has worked great: https://amzn.to/3fO9zyR

Get an adapter for a milwaukee m18 battery hook that up and then do your test
where can i find that thicker rack and battery holder. i got v8 and can not find that thicker plastic rack from anywhere.

Should the vacuum be left on the charger when not in use?
Is there something for V12 slim absolute? I want to buy the Dyson version but nothing is available for weeks.
You talk too damn much dude
Very articulate explanation. ThankYou! 🦘
It would be good to see a tear down of the pack to see the spec of cell, and capacity testing for actuality. There is a 3D adapter on thingverse to allow using a Dewalt battery, and another for doubling the cell count on an OEM pack – utilising the original circuitry!
A great vacuum for the price. The suction is awesome. Excellent for pet hair. The beater attachment works great MyBest.Tools on the stairs. Not too heavy and easily maneuvered.
I can almost guarantee those are green wrapped Sony VTC4’s or VTC5’s, which were rated at 30a continuous discharge. Depending on when that original battery pack was made it could also be Sony VTC5a which I believe are no longer made. They changed to chemical lithium ion in VTC6 and VTC6a. I’m guessing VTC5a now… idk?! Lol it’s really dependent on the date of the original battery pack. The Sony VTC6 and VTC6a are the best high drain 18650 battery cells you can get that are available to the public. The VTC5 and VTC5a weren’t meant for private purchase, but vaping mechanical mod’s with low ohm build’s the Sony VTC4 and VTC5’s were the best battery to handle those high drain build’s and were low mah and designed to drain quickly but safely under higher continuous amps. Been a while since I needed quality high drain 18650’s and I haven’t kept up with the technology like I used to
All 18650 batterie’s are graded from D to A+ from the manufacturer’s. When batches are made some cells come out better than other’s… hence the grade. Companies’s like Dyson pay top dollar for those A+ cells. If you understand 18650 batteries you can build your own. From vaping mechanical mod’s starting in 2012 I learned a lot about 18650 lithium batteries, because you had to build your own vape from the ground up, wrapping kanthal and using a 18650 surrounded by a metal tube with a mechanical switch on the bottom to complete the circuit. You learned ohm’s law to build safely and understood there was only a few different 18650 manufacturer’s… LG, Samsung and Sony! Most of these other batteries were re-wrapped Sony, Samsung or LG of lower grade… say B+ and down in quality. If you were looking for longevity and didn’t have a super low resistance build the Samsung and LG’s with higher 2500-3000mah… were perfect at lower loads with 15-20amps. But if you were pushing a really low resistance build (more vaper) at say 0.15 to 0.29 only one cell could push those amps safely, being the Sony VTC 5 at 30amp but only 1500-2000mah. I didn’t vape that low usually. But, understand this was a brand new cell at that time which was cutting edge technology for high drain needs in an 18650 battery. If you understand the Dyson motor and what it’s pulling, at normal and peak, then you can split the amp load between the batteries running them in parallel with a high drain cells… say like Sony VTC5. They have better now but I haven’t kept up on the latest cells but usually Sony made the best high drain 18650 batteries. Less mah at 2000-2500mah per battery, but it could sustain 35amps per cell. The more individual 18650 cells it can utilize the less strain on each battery keeping temperature’s lower and efficiency better.
I'm tempting to try and adopt my 18v 4ah bosch blue battery to vac.
I used them on my doughter ride on car….its worked .
Imagine 36v battery….🤯….rocket
Thank You Very Much!
I learned a valuable lesson from you when you said to back up the screw a little before screwing it in, to avoid damaging the whole by cross-threading the plastic. I used to have a problem putting the cap on the water bottle, It used to always cross thread. but now I just back it up till I hear/feel the click, then it screws in nicely. Thank again!
Most of these China packs have throwaway grade B battery cells. Just buy a Dyson pack and save the headache of play the cell pack lottery.
Just saw this video, then searched amazon for battery converter. for V6 Dyson to Dewalt. I might try this.
I would rather use a Dyson V8 with a Dewalt battery attachment. One 6 amp battery last 3 times as long as the original Dyson battery. If that ever went dead put in another 6 amp battery. I have 6 Dewalt batteries.
Did you say heighth?
