So I’ve never been a ‘believer’ when it comes to cordless vacuums. I’ve never used one that was any good, they’ve always been a massive let down with about as much performance as an asthmatic slug. However, when my partner started moaning about having to get the main vacuum out everytime he trimmed his beard or made a mess in the kitchen, I decided to put my preconceptions aside and see if cordless vacuums had progressed much in the past few years or so. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. I was intererested in the Bosch Athlet because it had got rave reviews from Which? but when I got the opportunity to use a friends one, I was totally blown away. The suction and performance from this little stick vac was enough to put some modern full sized uprights to shame. It was absolutely brilliant. So when It came to choosing a machine for my home I was in no doubt which one I’d be going for. I chose the base model 18v Althet, a total bargain at £154 in Argos. With a run time of 40 minutes (on low power) and all the basic Athlet features (minus the toolkit) it’s more than enough for what I want it for however since using it i’ve discovered that it’s more than capable of doing that little bit more than just a quick whip round or for clearing up spills. Performance on carpets is particularly good, cleaning deep down and leaving a lovely groomed finish. Hardfloors are cleaned effectively too without scattering dirt everywhere. I tried the tools on my friends Athlet and they are perfectly sufficient for most tasks like stairs, upholstery and even the car. I’ll stick my neck out here and say that theres no reason you couldn’t replace your corded cleaner with an Athlet if you have a small flat or very small house. That’s something I never thought i’d say about a cordless vacuum. For bigger homes it’s an excellent second vacuum for day to day cleaning in between getting the big one out. 10/10 Bosch, this must be one of the best cordless vacuums on the market.

Sadly not, grandma had one it failed to charge after 4 days, got a replacement then that refused to power. She has the V6 Absolute dyson ive got still working weeks later. And no filters in the bin either.
