Could your tool kit benefit from a small portable vacuum?
Bosch VAC120BN on Amazon – http://amzn.to/2qqjMab
Find out what I like and don’t like about this Bosch 12V vac and how I use it in my work. Curious about how it actually performs? Watch and see it put to the test with different kinds of sawdust. A small, light vacuum like this might be just what you need for your tool kit.
Keeping a clean work space either in the shop or on the job site is important for both health and efficiency. There are a range of types and sizes of vacuums available for the shop and job site but which do you choose? I have found this little 12V vacuum from Bosch to be a handy size and packs the power that I need to get the job done. It can use either the standard slim pack 12V batteries or the 4.0 Ah fat pack batteries for increased performance and run time. I find that the VAC120BN is a perfect size for keeping ahead of sawdust that’s created when installing hardware or making small cuts. It’s a great complement to my bigger Bosch dust extractor and the cordless freedom is a big plus.
Watch and find out how it performs on the dust test with coarse and fine wood dust. I share what I like about it and what I don’t like about it and give it a DP Tool Score rating. If you have any questions about this vacuum just let me know in the comments below.

While your focus is woodworking, I would like to see a more difficult test of the vac's suction than wood chips, that are very light. In a car you willl find gravel and in my shop, beside wood dust, there will be clipped wire ends, insulation, drilled out pop rivets, metal and plastic filings and all kinds of small remnants. Let's see what it can and cannot pick up. After all this is a vacuum and the most important feature is suction. Before I abandon my old anemic hand vac, I want to know the replacement has better suction. That blister tray seems more like packaging than storage and there is only one accessory, the crevice tool. No brush, which comes in handy on car rugs, fabric, etc. I have other Bosch 12 volt tools so I am cosidering this vac. It is obvious that if a company can get you to buy their batteries and charger, you are hslf hooked on your next cordless tool.
Dirty little secret: When these Bosch batteries first came out they were marked 10.8 volts. They are only very briefly 12 volts, fresh off the charger. Their competitors do the same. Lithium cells are 3.6 volts and any pack is a multiple of that but they use that peak charge to 4 volts, multiplied by the number of cells in the pack to tout higher volage.. A 20 volt lithium is really only 18 volts after a few seconds of run time. In the EU the same batteries are rated correctly.
My understanding is that the included filter is a 0.5 micron HEPA filter.
Good review Dan, Sure would like to see how you make the foam inserts….and what type of foam material you use. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
