The battery on B+D on low power lasted about 15.5 minutes.

We took 3 of the most popular handheld cordless vacuums, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser, The Shark Pet Perfect II and the BLACK+DECKER Pet Cordless Vac.
And tested their airflow, battery life, weight, usability and pickup ability. I am going to summarize those tests first, then I will play some of the test footage at the end of the video. Links in the description and lets get started.

We started with Airflow tests to see which one had the most power.

It should be stated that the Bissell and Shark had only one power setting which we will refer to as high power, while the Black and decker has a low and a high power setting.

We tested the airflow using a sealed box and an anemometer, The Shark had the most power at 1652 fpm which was 26.5% more than the Black and decker which measured 1240 fpm on high and 1023 fpm on low power and a whopping 52% more than the Bissell which measured only 944 fpm.

Next we weighed them, The Shark and the Black and Decker were virtually the same weight without the pet hair attachment, with the Bissell being the heaviest by a small amount. But with the pet hair roller attached, the Shark was more than 50% lighter than the Black and Decker at only 2.13 lbs

With the pickup tests we tested a debris field with and without attachments as well as a pet hair field with the pet hair attachment.

Here are the takeaways from the pickup tests:

The Bissell, which did okay with the pet hair tests, could not really process medium to large debris at all, the intake hole gets clogged way too easily, and it just failed to pick up much of anything.

The Shark and the Black and Decker did really good with medium and large debris, preforming as good as you would want a handheld vacuum to preform, but they both faltered a little with the extra larger or Froot Loop size debris. The Black and Decker’s brush roll attachment got clogged, and the Sharks intake got clogged. Im sure they both would do well with isolated pieces but not all at one time.

The Shark and the Black and Decker did amazingly well with Pet hair, though I found that you have to have the Shark at the correct angle in order to optimize its effectiveness with the pet hair attachment.

The Black and Decker’s Pet hair attachment, which is much more elaborate had a swivel joint which made the angle issue irrelevant.

Next up was Battery Life test, we expected these numbers to be inversely proportional to the Airflow results, that is the most powerful vacuum should have the shortest battery life, but the question was by how much?

On high power with the powered pet hair attachment connected The Shark lasted 10:47 minutes, the Black and Decker lasted 11:51, the Bissell, the weakest of the 3 lasted 14:06.

Oddly on the second test, this time without the attachment the Shark and Black and Decker stopped at almost the exact same time 10:38. While the Bissell held at 14:15 so except for the decrease in the Black and Deckers battery life, the attachments did not seem to effect the battery life.

One issue was the recharge time, the Black and Decker consistently took about 8-9 hours to recharge where the Shark and Bissell took about 5 hrs. Because of that I will post the low power battery life numbers for the Black and decker in the description since I didn’t have time to wait for another recharge.

So because of the higher airflow, cheaper price, shorter recharge time, and great pickup test results, I would have to give the Shark Pet Perfect II the crown here, beating Black and Decker by a nose, the Bissell on the other hand just didn’t have a good showing. I love Bissell and they make some great products but I would take a pass on the Pet Hair Eraser 1782

The best handheld cleaner for me is the $700 overhyped, overpiced Dyson V10.

I love this little thing!>>>t.co/I16r9pNsYT    We have all hardwood floors and two dogs. This picks up all of the hair and dust around the house. It’s light weight and easy to clean the filter.

Not a huge issue, but it looks like you got the weights wrong. You said the bissel was the heaviest without the attachment, but it shows that it's the lightest. Also the Shark is lighter with the attachment than without? Good video otherwise.

This is an incredibly well made review. Far more thorough than I was expecting it to be.

Hoover vacuums will outperform the Bissell in carpet cleaning.
